Behavior of the American Eskimo
American Eskimos are known today for their obedience and agility in performing tricks and completing competitions. Nicknamed the “Eskie,” this breed is typically playful, smart, and spirited. Eskies do well around other pets and children, especially when well-trained. Eskies love to be a part of of your family “pack” and do best when given lots of activities to do. They are curious dogs and often try to get their owner’s attention to anything that piques their interest.
American Eskimos are quite active and need regular exercise, both physical and mental. They do best when given room to play in a securely fenced-in yard with plenty of toys. They are eager to please and enjoy learning and performing tricks and commands.
Eskies love to be with their owners and do best in an active, social household with room to play. It is important to socialize and train this breed while young in order to promote good social and obedience habits.
This breed has a thick, voluminous white coat and is a small to medium-sized dog. They are known for their black lips, nose, and eye rims that contrast from their bright white coats.
Grooming the American Eskimo
Because the American Eskimo has a thick and long coat, it requires regular brushing and bathing.
